CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2021 - 52 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING & <br />COMMUNITYDEVELOPMENT TO MAKEAPPLICA TIONS TO CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY AND THE STATE OF OHIO FOR THE OHIO WATER & <br />WASTEWATER INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE SOUTH <br />INTERCEPTOR EQUALIZATION TANK PROJECT, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant Program awards funding <br />to, among other projects, those projects making necessary investments in wastewater infrastructure; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted may be eligible for up to $5 million in grant funding <br />for capital projects and infrastructure engineering design projects which may be eligible for up to <br />$250,000 in grant funding; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted proposes to make applications for engineering and <br />construction of the South Interceptor EQ Tank Project; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Community Development to apply for said Ohio Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant <br />Program. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Community Development be and she is <br />hereby authorized to apply for an Ohio Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Grant Program grant. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the said grant, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that the <br />Director of Planning and Community Development be, and she hereby is, authorized to execute all <br />other non -contract documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further <br />reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order to meet the grant <br />application deadline of August 18, 2021; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of <br />two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
