CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 111 By: Mayor Kennedy A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNINGAND COMMUNITYDEVELOPMENT TO MAKEAPPLICA TION TO THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR FUNDING FOR SAFETY RELATED IMPROVEMENTS TO CLAGUE ROAD; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING FUNDS FOR THE REQUIRED LOCAL MATCH; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT IF A WARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has received the results of the safety study performed by Mott MacDonald, traffic consultant, for improvements to the intersection of Clague Road at Maple Ridge Road, and including the pedestrian crosswalk at Clague Park, and related corridor improvements; and WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is eligible to apply for safety funding through the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) with the condition of 10% local matching funds; and WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and Community Development to make application for funding to ODOT, and to further authorize the Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Planning and Community Development to prepare, sign and submit an application for funding from ODOT, including commitment of 10% local matching funds, for the Clague Pena ,.,.»..;der ,. feje,.* n„fth of ber-ain Read, ineluding the impr-ovement of Maple Ridge Road intefseetion and pedestrian crosswalk at Clague Park; and to further authorize the Mayor to enter into agreement to accept the funding if awarded. SECTION 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason that deadlines are imposed by ODOT in order for the project to be considered for funding, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
