CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 111 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PLANNINGAND COMMUNITYDEVELOPMENT TO MAKEAPPLICA TION <br />TO THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) ON <br />BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR FUNDING FOR <br />SAFETY RELATED IMPROVEMENTS TO CLAGUE ROAD; AND <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING FUNDS FOR THE REQUIRED LOCAL <br />MATCH; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE <br />GRANT IF A WARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE SAME, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has received the results of the safety study <br />performed by Mott MacDonald, traffic consultant, for improvements to the intersection of Clague <br />Road at Maple Ridge Road, and including the pedestrian crosswalk at Clague Park, and related <br />corridor improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is eligible to apply for safety funding through the <br />Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) with the condition of 10% local matching funds; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Planning and Community Development to make application for funding to ODOT, and to further <br />authorize the Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Community Development to prepare, sign and submit an application for funding from ODOT, <br />including commitment of 10% local matching funds, for the Clague Pena ,.,.»..;der ,. feje,.* n„fth <br />of ber-ain Read, ineluding the impr-ovement of Maple Ridge Road intefseetion and pedestrian <br />crosswalk at Clague Park; and to further authorize the Mayor to enter into agreement to accept <br />the funding if awarded. <br />SECTION 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason that deadlines are imposed by ODOT in order for the project to be considered for <br />funding, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />
