CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021 -79 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy and President of Council Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS FOR THE FISCAL <br />YEAR 2022 FOR THE WEST 231 ST STREET REHABILITATION PROJECT, <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF <br />AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH CUYAHOGA <br />COUNTY, AND DECLARING ANEMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is qualified to apply for grant funding under the <br />Cuyahoga County Municipal Grant Program for 2022, a competitive grant program that awards <br />projects which meet a community development need that is related to the health or welfare of the <br />community within established target areas; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Planning and Community Development, upon review of <br />the grant requirements for target areas, proposes to apply for funds to rehabilitate West 231St <br />Street; and <br />WHEREAS, the maximum grant award is $150,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Planning and Community Development to make application for said CDBG funding for said <br />project and to authorize the Mayor to accept the grant if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Community Development to prepare, sign and submit an application for Community <br />Development Block Grant funds for fiscal year 2022 on behalf of the City of North Olmsted for <br />the North Olmsted West 231St Street Rehabilitation Project and further authorizes the Mayor, if a <br />grant is awarded, to accept the grant and execute a contract with Cuyahoga County. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately to meet the CDBG <br />application deadline on or before January 7, 2022, and further, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: i q - A0a A <br />First Reading: 1Z -7-Z <br />Second Reading: <br />ThirdReading: 14- 0, a. <br />Committee: <br />
