CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021 - 87 <br />By: Councilwoman Hemann <br />A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE TEMPORARY OUTDOOR PATIO <br />DINING AREA PROGRAM UNTIL JUNE 30, 2022, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, in response to the COVID-19 crisis, its hardship upon the local restaurant <br />industry, this Council adopted Resolution 2020-56 to enable and encourage City of North <br />Olmsted dining establishments to have and offer temporary outdoor dining areas; and <br />WHEREAS, in conjunction with said Resolution 2020-56, the administration published <br />guidelines for temporary outdoor dining areas, which streamlined authorization procedures for <br />North Olmsted restaurants, while also ensuring the safety of patrons; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to continue the program into 2021, an extension of Resolution <br />2020-56 was passed via 2020-159, which extended the program expiration from December 31, <br />2020 to May 31, 2021; and <br />WHEREAS, a further extension was approved via Resolution 2021-30, which extended <br />the program until October 31, 2021; and <br />WHEREAS, a further extension was approved via Resolution 2021-61, which extended <br />the program until December 31, 2021; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to again exend the program permitting <br />temporary authorization of outdoor patio dining areas from the current expiration date of <br />December 31, 2021 until June 30, 2022. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the provisions of Resolution 2020-56, including the Outdoor Patio <br />Dining Areas criteria adopted therein and which are incorporated by reference, are hereby <br />readopted as a policy in the City of North Olmsted and extended through June 30, 2022. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it will immediately further extend Resolution 2020-56 since the most recent <br />extension expires on December 31, 2021; and further provided that it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
