Council Minutes of 05-03-2023 <br />• Teacher Appreciation Month began on May 1. The North Olmsted Recreation Center is <br />celebrating the City's School Staff by offering a free pass for the entire month. See the website <br />for more information. <br />• North Olmsted High School will present a STEAM Showcase from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, <br />May 9, 2023. STEAM, stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Students will <br />present, demonstrate and showcase the interactive STEAM projects they have completed in <br />class. This event is open to the entire community. <br />• Mayor Jones attended the "Citizen of the Year" banquet and presented a Mayoral Proclamation <br />to the North Olmsted Community Council's 2023 Citizen of the Year, David Furin. The North <br />Olmsted Citizen of the Year is recognized annually for their community service and volunteerism <br />in our community. <br />• Kindergarteners and Mayor Jones were present for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the grand <br />opening of North Olmsted's new StoryWalk at North Olmsted Community Park. The North <br />Olmsted StoryWalk is a collaboration between the North Olmsted Public Library and the <br />Department of Recreation and Public Engagement, with the support of the Friends of North <br />Olmsted Library. The StoryWalk provides an outdoor opportunity for healthy activity while <br />promoting and encouraging children to read. <br />• The North Olmsted Senior Center hosted the second annual Senior vs. Senior Chair Volleyball <br />event with North Olmsted High School S.I.T.E.S. Seniors, wherein Senior Center members and <br />N.O.H.S. play a competitive game of chair volleyball. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• No report. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• No report. <br />Councilman Limpert asked for a moment of personal privilege to add to the Mayor's comments on the <br />STEAM event to be held at the High School, noting that there will be approximately 40 booths, and <br />recommended those who are able to attend the event, to do so to see young people getting involved in <br />Science, Technology and Engineering. <br />The Mayor presented the North Olmsted Woman's Club a Proclamation recognizing them for their <br />service to the Community and making a difference for more than 60 years. <br />Councilman Limpert, Chairman of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: <br />The Building, Zoning and Development Committee met on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 6:50 p.m. Present <br />were Committee Members Limpert, Williamson and Hemann and Council Members Glassburn, Madden, <br />Gilchrist and Scarl, Council President Brossard, Mayor Jones, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director <br />Copfer, Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of Economic and Community Development Upton, <br />Safety Director Scofield, Service Director Kearney, Special Assistant to the Mayor Massarolo and guests. <br />• Discussed Ordinance 2023-18. An Ordinance Amending Section 1118.13 of the Planning and <br />Zoning Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted entitled, "Offices and <br />Services", in order to limit the location of specified uses. Councilman Limpert stated that <br />Director Upton advised of the boundaries recommended in the legislation, in Section 1118.13 of <br />the planning and designing code, further noting he shared with Council a proposed map of the <br />changes, and stating the Administration felt strongly about the proposed boundaries.
