CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - 112 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC AND <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO MAKEAPPLICATION ONBEHALFOF <br />THE CITY OFNOR TH OLMSTED TO THE S TA TE OF OHIO DEPAR TMENT <br />OF TRANSPOR TA TION (ODO I) TO PAR TICIPA TE IN THE SAFE ROUTES <br />TO SCHOOL" GRANT PROGRAM; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED, AND EXECUTE <br />AGREEMENTS THEREFORE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Economic an d Community Development has alerted to a <br />grant opportunity that the City of North Olmsted may be eligible to be awarded in funding <br />administered by the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation (ODOT); and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director to apply for the ODOT <br />grant funding for "Safe Routes to School". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Economic and Community Development be and he is <br />hereby authorized to apply for grant funding from the State of Ohio, specifically the Ohio <br />Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Program, and if awarded, further authoring the <br />Mayor to sign any and all Agreement documents with the State of Ohio, Department of <br />Transportation to accept such grant funding for the benefit of the City of North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further <br />reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order to meet the <br />application deadline; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all <br />members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval <br />by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST. <br />BEATRICE TAY <br />Clerk of Council <br />First Reading: 10-n-,�R <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Readi -al-a_ <br />Committee: R d W% u� <br />`J <br />LO ISJ BROSSARD <br />President of Council <br />
