CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - 149 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIFTY (50) "EVERYDAY LEVEL III ICW ARMOR PLATES" FROM DAYTON ARMOR, LLC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,690.00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF MODERNIZING THE BULLET PROOF VESTS UTILIZED BY PATROL AND SWAT OFFICERS WITHIN THE DIVISION OF POLICE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the administration has determined that it is necessary to modernize the armor plates contained within the bullet proof vests utilized by the SWAT and patrol officers within the Division of Police; and WHEREAS, the armor plates will provide enhanced protection from greater gunshot threats such as AK47's and modem handguns; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with Dayton Armor, LLC. to obtain these much needed and life-saving enhancements to police officer safety within the Division of Police. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STA TEWF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with Dayton Armor, LLC. to purchased fifty (50) sets of Dayton Armor "Everyday Level III ICW" armor plates at a cost of $42,690.00 for use within the Division of Police. SECTION 2: This Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and it is further necessary for this Resolution be in effect immediately upon its passage in order to enhance officer safety from deadly gunshot threats as quickly as possible; and provided this Resolution receives the affirmative vote of five members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor PASSED: LLCR.4 a.
