CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2023 -153 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADMINISTRATION'S REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATIONS FROM THE STATE OF OHIO, BY AND THROUGH THE STATES CAPITAL BUDGET, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TENNIS AND PICRLEBALL COURTS TO BE LOCATED NEAR SPRINGVALE GOLF COURSE. WHEREAS, this Council supports the Mayor's request of the State of Ohio to consider appropriations for the construction of Tennis and Pickleball Courts, including an additional parking lot, to be located near Springvale Golf Course, as part of the State's Capital Budget for the reasons outlined below; and WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted does not have an outdoor tennis or pickle ball court available for public use among the amenities offered for recreation. Pickleball has grown rapidly and provides a unique recreational opportunity for citizens of all ages. The City of North Olmsted has planned for capital improvements to construct such amenities, contingent upon funding, and has land available located near Springvale Golf Course, including expansion of parking areas. WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to support the Mayor's effort to seek appropriations from the State of Ohio in order to fund capital improvements for construction of new Tennis and Pickleball Court, including parking area, to be located near Springvale Golf Course, and accordingly directs this Resolution to our Representatives in the Statehouse. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby support the Mayor's request for appropriations by the State of Ohio in order to provide funding in the State's Capital budget for necessary capital improvements for the construction of new Tennis and Pickleball Courts, including parking area, in the City of North Olmsted. This Council hereby petitions the State of Ohio to recognize the capital improvement for recreation and prioritize the City's funding request accordingly. SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to send a Certified copy of this Resolution to the appropriate administrative agencies and public officials, as may be directed by the Administration, as well as including elected representative in the House and Senate. SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest date provided for by law.
