CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 36 <br />BY: Councilman Shymske, Mayor Jones, Council President Brossard and Council Members <br />Scarl, Hemann, Gilchrist and Glassbum. <br />A RESOLUTIONRECOGNIZING APRIL 28, 2024 AS WORKERS' <br />MEMORIAL DAY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Workers' Memorial Day is a solemn occasion to honor and remember the <br />lives of workers who have lost their lives due to workplace accidents or occupational diseases; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the safety and well-being of workers are fundamental principles that <br />must be upheld in every workplace across our nation; and <br />WHEREAS, on this day, we renew our commitment to creating safe and healthy <br />working environments for all individuals, ensuring that no worker ever faces unnecessary <br />risks or dangers while on the job; and <br />WHEREAS, we recognize the tireless efforts of workers, unions, safety advocates, and <br />organizations dedicated to promoting workplace safety, protecting workers' rights, and <br />preventing future tragedies; and <br />WHEREAS, we stand in solidarity with the families and loved ones who have been <br />affected by workplace fatalities or injuries, offering our support, compassion, and unwavering <br />commitment to justice. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: Let us honor the memory of those we have lost by reaffirming our <br />dedication to ensuring the safety, health, and dignity of all workers. Together, let us strive to <br />build a future where every worker returns home safely at the end of the day. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that this resolution needs approval before April 28`s; and further provided that it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and <br />be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED.: �0 <br />First Reading: <br />Second Reading: ; u flc.ao( d <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: AWA- <br />
