CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 68 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTIONAUTHORIZINC THE DIRECTOR OFRECREATIONAND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES (ODNR) IN THE AMOUNT OF $750,000.00 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACQUIRING PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT THE NORTH OLMSTED CITY PARKS AND, IF AWARDED, FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE AWARD, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) provides assistance to local government through its NatureWorks program to provide funding for outdoor recreational opportunities, with awards up to $150,000.00, subject to matching funds of 25%; and WHEREAS, the Director of Recreation and Public Engagement recommends and requests that City Council authorize him to file an application with ODNR NatureWorks on behalf of the City of North Olmsted to be granted up to $150,000.00 in grant funding for the purpose of funding playground equipment at the North Olmsted City Parks, at Clague Park, subject to 25% matching funds; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Recreation and Public Engagement to apply for the NatureWorks grant funding by ODNR and, if awarded, to further authorize the Mayor to accept the award, execute agreements for same, and to authorize appropriation of 25% matching fund contribution for the cost of playground equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: The Director of Recreation and Public Engagement is hereby authorized to make application to ODNR for a NatureWorks Grant Program in an amount up to $150,000.00 for the purpose of purchasing playground equipment at North Olmsted City Parks and, if awarded, that the Mayor is further authorized to enter into NatureWorks Grant Program agreements to accept an award on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, including satisfaction of matching fund obligations described by Section 2. herein. SECTION 2: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into NatureWorks Grant Program agreements which obligate the City of North Olmsted to commit matching funds required by ODNR to satisfactorily complete the proposed playground equipment project and by commitment of required matching funds to maintain eligibility for reimbursement in accordance with the terms of the NatureWorks Grant Program by ODNR. SECTION 3: The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to provide and supply a certified true and accurate copy of this Resolution to and for the purpose of documenting the City of North Olmsted's adoption hereof and approvals required by ODNR for the NatureWorks Grant Program application and, if awarded, acceptance with matching funds.
