CITY OF NORTH OLMSTEED <br />RESOLUTION NO 2024 - 72 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE AN <br />APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OHIO PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION <br />STATE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND/OR LOCAL <br />TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS, FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT FUNDS, IF AWARDED, <br />AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT AS REQUIRED, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Public Works Commission offers opportunities for <br />municipal participation and funding for capital improvement and transportation <br />improvement programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the administration intends to apply for funding the resurfacing of <br />Lorain Road between Steams Road and Canterbury Road; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to apply for <br />such funding and, if granted, to further authorize the Mayor to execute a contract required <br />to accept such funding. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, STATE OF OHIO, <br />THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor be and she is hereby authorized to apply for funding from <br />the Ohio Public Works Commission in order for the City of North Olmsted to participate in <br />capital and transportation improvement programs. <br />SECTION 2. That the Mayor be and she hereby is authorized to accept the said <br />funding, if awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if <br />required. <br />SECTION 3. That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for <br />the further reason that the grant deadline is August 1, 2024, and further provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
