CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 2024 - 76 BY: Mayor Jones AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FOR EXCESS INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE CITY HEALTH CARE & HOSPITALIZATION PLANS FOR 2025, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAID INSURANCE COVERAGE. WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted desires to go to market to acquire proposals for excess insurance coverage (aka stop loss coverage) for the City Health Care and Hospitalization Plans in 2025; WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Human Resources to solicit proposals for excess / umbrella health insurance coverage and to further authorize the Mayor, upon approval of the Board of Control, to enter into an agreement or agreements for the purchase of said insurance policy with the most qualified firm to perform the services and provide the umbrella insurance at a price that is fair and reasonable to the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Director of Human Resources be and she is hereby authorized to solicit or request proposals for a health insurance excess / umbrella policy, in accordance with the specifications now on file in her office and that, upon approval by the Board of Control, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements for said insurance policy with the most qualified firm to provide the umbrella insurance at a price that is fair and reasonable to the City. SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest da provided for by law.
