CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 93 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS TO PURCHASE TWENTY- <br />SIX (26) RENWOOD MOBILE RADIOS, FOR DEPLOYMENT BY THE <br />NORTH OLMSTED DIVISION OF POLICE AT A COST OF $114,641.02 <br />THROUGH THE STATE PURCHASE PROGRAM, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Police Chief and Director of Public Safety have recommended that the <br />City of North Olmsted proceed with the purchase of twenty-six (26) Kenwood Mobile Radios <br />from Motorola Solutions, as previously addressed by and approved in the budget, at a cost of <br />$114,641.02, to equip North Olmsted Division of Police with MARCS network radios as <br />mandated by the State of Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, the current radios being deployed by the Division of Police are coming to <br />the end of their usable life and are not capable of being upgraded into the MARCS Radio <br />Network, as required by State law; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to purchase said <br />Kenwood Mobile Radios, through the State Purchase Program, as a permitted exception to the <br />competitive bidding procedure that would otherwise be required for such expenditures, and to <br />Rather authorize the Mayor to execute contract documents required for such expenditure. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OFCUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she is hereby authorized to purchase, through the <br />State Purchasing Program, which was established by R.C. Section 125.04, and which the City is <br />authorized to participate in pursuant to the City Charter and Resolution No. 87-6, twenty-six (26) <br />new Kenwood Mobile Radios from Motorola Solutions, as described in the specifications on file <br />in the Public Safety Department, at a cost of $114,641.02. Further, as may be necessary, the <br />Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any contract documents required by the authorized <br />vendor(s), the State of Ohio, or the Charter / Ordinances. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that such radios will immediately better provide for the safety of employees of the <br />Division of Police and the public and such upgrade to network with MARCS is mandated by <br />State law; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />
