CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 97 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH STORM DOG TACTICAL TO PURCHASE A <br />DUAL-PURPOSE POLICE CANINE FOR USE IN THE DIVISION <br />OF POLICE FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF $18,800.00, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the current Division of Police canine is seven (7) years old; and <br />WHEREAS, an additional canine in the Division of Police would assist in patrol <br />duties and further serve in narcotics detection; and <br />WHEREAS, Storm Dog Tactical in Sudbury Sunbury, Ohio has a canine available <br />that is trained in patrol, evidence and criminal apprehension for the sum of $18,800.00; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the purchase price includes a five (5) week training course, post <br />purchase support and specialized equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Director of Public <br />Safety and the Chief of Police, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to <br />enter into a contract with Storm Dog Tactical, which contract includes a canine, five (5) <br />week training course, post purchase support and specialized equipment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OFCUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she hereby is authorized to enter into a <br />contract with Storm Dog Tactical in the amount of $18,800.00 to purchase a canine, five <br />(5) week training course, post purchase support and specialized equipment, all for use in <br />the Division of Police. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately to <br />ensure availability during the order period; and provided it receives the affirmative vote <br />of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
