CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024 -118 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH DATABASE SYSTEMS CORP. TO PURCHASE <br />THE "CARE CALL REASSURANCE SYSTEM-, AND DECLARING <br />ANEMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, for over 20 yews, the North Ohnsted Police Department has <br />provided an automated telephone reassurance program to residents at no cost to the <br />residents. The R U OK program uses a computer to dial subscribers at a time of their <br />choosing to elicit a response that they are ok. If the call goes unanswered or the <br />subscriber requests assistance, North Olmsted Police and/or Fire personnel are <br />dispatched; and <br />WHEREAS, being a 20 plus year old system, the R U Ok System had a hardware <br />failure that is not repairable. Additionally, the company, R U Ok is no longer in business <br />so an updated system is not available from them. Currently, North Olmsted Police <br />Personnel are manually making the R U OK telephone calls to the enrolled residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the CARE program is a modem system that uses current, advanced <br />technology to make initial and follow up telephone calls, automatically generates alerts <br />and has reporting features. Purchasing the CARE system would include a dedicated <br />Windows Computer, Pro -Care Software Licensing for up to 100 participants and shipping <br />for a total cost of $10,745.00. After the first year, the annual subscriber license fee for up <br />to 100 participants is $1,200.00 per year. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Director of Public <br />Safety, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with <br />Database Systems Corp. to purchase their CARE Call Reassurance system. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she hereby is authorized to enter into a <br />contract with Database Systems Corp. in the initial amount of $10,745.00, with annual <br />subscriber Licensing Fees of $1,200.00, to provide an automated telephone reassurance <br />program to residents in need. This contract will automatically renew until cancelled. <br />Said contract shall be in substantially the same form and substance as the contract on file <br />in the Department of Public Safety, with only such changes thereto as are not <br />substantially adverse to the City and which are approved by the Director of Law. The <br />character of any such changes as not being substantially adverse to the City shall be <br />evidenced conclusively by the execution of the agreement by the Mayor and the approval <br />of the agreement by the Director of Law. <br />
