CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 122 By: Mayor Jones A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH SOURCE, INCORPORATED OF MISSOURI AND VERIZON WIRELESS TO PURCHASE NINE (9) MODEMS TO BE INSTALLED IN EMERGENCY SERVICE VEHICLES WITHIN THE DIVISION OF FIRE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENHANCING DISPATCHING CAPABILITIES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the proposed modems allow for the North Olmsted Fire Department personnel and vehicles to improve capabilities and connectivity with vehicle mobile data terminals (MDTs); and WHEREAS, proposed modems will improve communication with dispatch and further allow dispatch to track the location of vehicles — a capability not currently available to City emergency vehicles; and WHEREAS, the total cost of nine (9) modems is $10,916.02, with bill credits from Verizon Wireless in the amount of $1,000.00 per modem upon proof of purchase; and WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Director of Public Safety and the Chief of Fire, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with Source, Incorporated of Missouri in an amount not to exceed $10,916.02 and Verizon Wireless to provide such service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTYOF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she hereby is authorized to enter into a contract with Source, Incorporated of Missouri for the purchase of nine (9) modems at a cost of $10,916.02 and with Verizon Wireless to provide such MDT services. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately to have such equipment and services in effect for the rollout of the new dispatch center; and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
