CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 122 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH SOURCE, INCORPORATED OF MISSOURI <br />AND VERIZON WIRELESS TO PURCHASE NINE (9) MODEMS TO <br />BE INSTALLED IN EMERGENCY SERVICE VEHICLES WITHIN <br />THE DIVISION OF FIRE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENHANCING <br />DISPATCHING CAPABILITIES, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the proposed modems allow for the North Olmsted Fire Department <br />personnel and vehicles to improve capabilities and connectivity with vehicle mobile data <br />terminals (MDTs); and <br />WHEREAS, proposed modems will improve communication with dispatch and <br />further allow dispatch to track the location of vehicles — a capability not currently <br />available to City emergency vehicles; and <br />WHEREAS, the total cost of nine (9) modems is $10,916.02, with bill credits <br />from Verizon Wireless in the amount of $1,000.00 per modem upon proof of purchase; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Director of Public <br />Safety and the Chief of Fire, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter <br />into a contract with Source, Incorporated of Missouri in an amount not to exceed <br />$10,916.02 and Verizon Wireless to provide such service. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTYOF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she hereby is authorized to enter into a <br />contract with Source, Incorporated of Missouri for the purchase of nine (9) modems at a <br />cost of $10,916.02 and with Verizon Wireless to provide such MDT services. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately to <br />have such equipment and services in effect for the rollout of the new dispatch center; and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
