Only 17%, 16%, and 16% of high <br />school, middle school, and primary school caregivers feel that it is safe or very safe for students to walk and <br />bike, with 47%, 55%, and 48% of caregivers feeling that it unsafe and very unsafe for students to walk and bike. <br />Their concerns are also voiced through the survey. Weather or climate, violence or crime, absence of crossing <br />guards, the safety of the intersections and crossings, the conditions of sidewalks and pathways, presence of <br />adults to walk or bike with, the amount of traffic along biking and walking routes, before or after school <br />activities, time taken to walk or bike, convenience of driving, and required distance traveled are examples of <br />issues being identified.
