Mayor Jones:
So as to that, the four -corner stopping area at Barton and Bradley, as Mr. Gareau and I know
very well, living right there, it is dangerous, and we've heard you and your neighbors, and
Council is set to pass this budget on the 18th of this month, and in that budget is money for a
flashing light to be put up at that intersection, so we are addressing that. We just needed to
work through our budget process here in the City to have that money set aside, and it will be
addressed.
Kim Russell:
Okay. Thank you.
Mayor Jones:
Your next question, I'm actually going to have Director Pinchek, Director of Recreation and
Public Engagement, speak to you directly about what is happening at Barton Bradley Park, and I
know that you are always welcome to come in and see the drawings and meet with him and
our Chairwoman of Recreation Committee here, the Ward 4 Councilwoman, Ms. Hemann as
well, about any questions you have about that.
Director Pinchek:
Thank you, Mayor. As the Mayor had mentioned, there are going to be some drawings, they're
no finalized yet. So the stakes that you see in the property lines, they're from the surveyors
that are just surveying the lots, that will go on to the drawings from our City Engineer. So he
has not finalized the exact plans yet, and it hasn't gone out to bid or anything like that, so
they're just in that phase. We expect R to go out to bid probably in the next couple of weeks,
and then notices will go out once he finalizes the plans. But I would welcome you to stop at City
Hall or I can bring them to you, I can get your name and number and get you a copy of the plans
if you'd like as well.
Kim Russell:
Are they planningon clearing all of the woods?
Director Pinchek:
I don't believe so, no, I don't believe so. They want to be cognizant of the buffer zones behind
the houses and stuff like that. But you're right, it is going to be a very large area that is
desperately needed for that park.
Kim Russell:
And one of the other considerations is that all of us have a lot of water retention in our
backyards already. If you put pavement over all of that, all that water is going to be either
running off into the creek or into our yards.
Director Pinchek:
So that is being taken into consideration by the City Engineer and using storm water
management funds for that purpose as well, to alleviate some of those problems that may
exist, if they do that. I do know that some of the lots won't be asphalt, they'll be gravel as well,
03-04-25 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 9
