CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.2025 - 63 <br />BY: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />DELINQUENT DEBT COLLECTION AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />STATE OF OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />ENGAGING THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL TO <br />COLLECT UNPAID FINES, FEES AND COURT COSTS FOR THE <br />NORTH OLMSTED MAYOR'S COURT ON DELINQUENT CASES, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, changes in Ohio law will alter the way that the North Olmsted <br />Mayor's Court operates to the extent that there may be an increase in delinquent fines, <br />fees and costs from defendants appearing before the Court; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of Attorney General is available to provide services to the <br />Court by way of collecting said fines, fees and costs should they arise; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to enter into a Delinquent Debt Collection <br />Agreement with the Ohio Attorney General to assist in collecting delinquent fines, fees <br />and costs from defendants appearing in the North Olmsted Mayor's Court. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into a <br />Delinquent Debt Collection Agreement with the Ohio Attorney General, a copy of which <br />is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference, which is in all <br />respects hereby approved. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and <br />welfare, and for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect <br />immediately so as to allow the City to timely collect money owed to it and necessary for <br />its continued operations; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
