CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO.2025 - 63 BY: Mayor Jones A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A DELINQUENT DEBT COLLECTION AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENGAGING THE OFFICE OF ATTORNEY GENERAL TO COLLECT UNPAID FINES, FEES AND COURT COSTS FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED MAYOR'S COURT ON DELINQUENT CASES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, changes in Ohio law will alter the way that the North Olmsted Mayor's Court operates to the extent that there may be an increase in delinquent fines, fees and costs from defendants appearing before the Court; and WHEREAS, the Office of Attorney General is available to provide services to the Court by way of collecting said fines, fees and costs should they arise; and WHEREAS, this Council desires to enter into a Delinquent Debt Collection Agreement with the Ohio Attorney General to assist in collecting delinquent fines, fees and costs from defendants appearing in the North Olmsted Mayor's Court. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into a Delinquent Debt Collection Agreement with the Ohio Attorney General, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference, which is in all respects hereby approved. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately so as to allow the City to timely collect money owed to it and necessary for its continued operations; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
