V. In areas where on -street parking is to be located the minimum tree lawn <br />may be reduced to zero feet (0') (Q in Figure 1150.10(E)), however the <br />requirement for street trees in Section 1150.10(F)(2) shall still be met. <br />(1) On -street parking may not be located within fifty feet (50') of an <br />intersection (0). <br />(2) In areas with on -street parking, a minimum of 25 percent (25%) of <br />the length of the street front shall be landscaped (Q) to a minimum <br />width of four feet (4') ((D). This requirement may be reduced in <br />order to maintain the required pedestrian clearance for sidewalks. <br />(3) Requirements for street trees, shrubs, ornamental trees, and other <br />plantings required for the tree lawn area may be met through the <br />use of landscape areas, planters, or other appropriate method <br />approved by the Planning and Design Commission. <br />b. Secondary Streets: Tree lawns shall be at least five (5) feet in width (© in Figure <br />1150.10(D)) and shall be planted or landscaped according to the following: <br />L Street trees: <br />(1) At least five (5) different types of approved trees shall be used. <br />(2) A minimum of one (1) shade tree shall be planted every twenty feet <br />(20') on center (0), on average, regardless of curb cuts. <br />(3) Street trees shall be at least twenty feet (20') from street <br />intersections and ten feet from fire hydrants or utility poles. <br />ii. One (1) shrub or ornamental tree shall be planted for every twenty feet <br />(20') of frontage (Q). Fifty percent (50%) of these should be evergreen. <br />iii. Spacing is measured as an average to account for driveways, utilities, bus <br />boarding and alighting areas, and other potential conflicts. <br />iv. At least fifteen percent (15%) of the tree lawn, exclusive of the area <br />devoted to required street trees and shrubs, shall be landscaped. <br />Landscaping can be in -ground or in planters. If the tree lawn cannot <br />accommodate this requirement, landscaping may be introduced in other <br />areas of the pedestrian zone, so long as a minimum of four feet (4') is <br />maintained for pedestrian travel. <br />JANUARY 24, 2025 4 <br />
