Law Director Gareau:
Mr. President.
Council President Brossard:
Director.
Law Director Gareau:
Based on what took place in the Caucus Meeting, it's my anticipation, because this is a
complete rewrite of the pending version, I had suggested, perhaps at this late moment, that
instead of doing an amendment, we just do a substitute Ordinance, and that will take place
either at the next meeting, to go ahead and do a substitute Ordinance. I don't think there's any
more need for discussion. It's been discussed and it's ready to go. If I can answer on behalf of
the Chairman, but I think that summarizes where we are, right?
Councilman Shymske:
Yes.
Mr. Jeff Sturgeon:
All right. I would like to thank the Law Director, Administration, Council for looking at this. It
was about a year ago I mentioned this, that I thought something needed to be done, and I'm
glad something's going to be changed. I do, however, feel that it is important that, after looking
at what you had online with it, unless I missed something, I didn't see anything from the
property owner that is letting a food truck be on their property. I think that's important, that
they should have to have something visible, seen, so an officer who was ever in charge can walk
up and say, hey, yes, you have permission. Similar to, like, if you're in the woods hunting on
somebody's property or fishing on a pond, first thing a game warden or a police officer is going
to ask is, do you have permission to be here? Show me. Because all that other stuff means
nothing if you don't have permission to be there.
Law Director Gareau:
Mr. President. It's included in the Ordinance as part of the permitting process. It does state in
there that you need to demonstrate that you have authorization from the owner. That's not
something necessarily, maybe in the rulemaking, maybe in the application process, we tell
them to put it up in the trailer or whatever, but they are going to be required to provide
documentation that they, in fact, have authorization to be there.
Mr. Jeff Sturgeon:
Okay. All right, so if they don't have permission from that owner....
Law Director Gareau:
Yeah, so that is included in it.
Mr. Jeff Sturgeon:
Alright, next quick thing I wanted to say, I heard the Mayor talking about the baseball fields.
And everything that's going to be happening with that. I don't know if there's any plans, I'd like
0 U3_25 Council Meeting Minutes Pages
