Council President Brossard:
All right, moving on, Director of Law Gareau, do you have a report this evening?
Mayor Jones:
Mr. President, I still have a report. [laughing]
Council President Brossard:
Oh, I'm sorry.
Mayor Jones:
It's okay.
Mayor Jones:
I'll be fast. Thank you, Mr. President, members of Council.
• Construction on North Olmsted Park is going well. Phase one is on schedule for
completion by the beginning of August, weather permitting. This first phase costs
approximately $2 million. They are currently finishing up the plantings of the outfields
for the baseball diamonds, planting shrubs and trees, finishing up on the concession
restroom, garage, and the parking lot. Phase two is out to bid with construction
anticipated to start in July for the park south of the Senior Center. As you know, phase
two renovations include a new performance stage, tennis and pickleball courts,
additional walking trails, renovated lighted ball field, playground improvements, and
including new adaptive playground pieces, and finally, new parking lots.
• And also in our North Olmsted Community Park, our first summer concert of the year is
taking place this Saturday. Join us on June 7th from 6 until 9 p.m. for Jam Machine,
sponsored in part by NOPEC.
• Also, by this weekend, the outdoor pool at the Rec Center will be open. Unfortunately,
the weather has been unusually cold the last few weeks, so that has delayed the
opening of the pool by about a week or so.
• And finally, the Mayor's and Manager's meeting for the county last week was held at
Cleveland Hopkins Airport, where we were able to get a detailed look at the plans for
the airport. The $1.1 billion terminal, or as I learned there, it's also called the head
house for those in the know, is scheduled to open in 2032. A new parking garage
replacing the orange lot is scheduled to open in 2029, and a new gold lot with 1,600
spaces is to open next year. So those renovations are moving forward, and I'm excited
about those plans. I think they will not only be a benefit, obviously, for the users of the
airport, but I believe that improving our airport will have a spillover effect in benefiting
North Olmsted and Northeast Ohio; and the expansion is being funded by the airlines,
so no taxpayer dollars are being used for this expansion, and that, Mr. President,
concludes my report.
Council President Brossard:
Thank you. Law Director Gareau, do you have a report this evening?
06 03 25 Council Meeting Minutes Page 2
