If you live in a city other than North Olmsted, please state the name of that city and proceed
with your comments. You will have up to five minutes.
Patty Varanese
Epilepsy Association
On behalf of Epilepsy Association, I'd like to thank the North Olmsted City Council for being part
of such an important awareness initiative. Epilepsy Association is a Cleveland -based nonprofit
that offers a variety of free services to the community, including case management, seizure first
aid training, online educational seminars and courses, and so much more. Epilepsy impacts 1%
of the population of the United States. That's around 3 million people. For most of them,
epilepsy is a lifelong condition, and for about 1 million of those people, medication does not
stop their seizures. So little research has been done on SUDEP. Current estimates say that 1 in
1,000 people, or 3,000 people every year, will die of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.
That's a very conservative estimate because not all coroners even know it exists. The real
number is likely three times higher. Three thousand people is not a small number, but so many
epilepsy patients never even heard of SUDEP. That's why we are spending October raising
awareness. You can follow Epilepsy Association on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedln, Threads, and
visit epilepsyinfo.org and learn more. And we will also be at the Great Northern Mall October
25th and 26th to talk about SUDEP. Again, Epilepsy Association cannot thank you enough for
making this an awareness for everybody. Thank you.
Mr. Primosch:
My name is Donald Primosch, spelled P-R-1-M-0-S-C-H. I live at 6064 Stafford Drive, North
Olmsted, Ohio, 44070. 1 came to the last Council meeting to complain about my neighbors.
These people to the south of me, 6078 Stafford Drive, low-income housing, Section 8, Arabs.
Now, I'm going to tell you one story. From the last meeting to right now, that's about three
weeks in there.
Council President Brossard:
Okay. Sir, sir, I just want to... let's try to leave anger out...
Mr. Primosch:
I'm trying to be cool.
Council President Brossard:
Okay. All right. Thank you.
Mr. Primosch:
I'm trying. I just want to tell you that this oldest girl, you have her pictures. She sets up... she
goes out to the sidewalk. She sets up on there. She takes the volleyball, and she bangs it into
the house. That's 40 feet away, and she continues to do that. Three times, the ball came over
my property line. It won't stop. Now, I went and got a variance for the fence from three feet
from my house out to the sidewalk. I got the variance. I got the permit. I got the guy to do it. He
calls underground utilities. This young girl, Carly, comes out, and she flagged the whole
property line. Here, their gas line is on the property line. I cannot put the fence in now.
