• Congratulations to all who were elected and re-elected to positions within the City of
North Olmsted and our region yesterday. Your leadership and dedication are greatly
appreciated as we move forward with the many projects and initiatives that strengthen
our community. Also, acknowledging the re-election, not just of our council members, of
our Law Director, and to extend our sincere thanks to Finance Director Copfer, who has
given 28 years of service to the City of North Olmsted. We appreciate her many years of
dedication, commitment, and contributions to our City's financial operations. And
sincere thanks to Councilwoman of Ward 4, Mary Ellen Hemann, who will be moving on
to another position in our region, but who has represented Ward 4 of North Olmsted for
many years. We thank you.
• The North Olmsted Recreation Center is celebrating its 50th birthday this November.
Throughout the month, visitors can enjoy weekly giveaways and more as part of the
celebration. I would highly encourage you to let your residents know that they should
take a walk through the Rec Center. They have a lot of display boards up symbolizing 50
years of that Recreation Center and the many changes that have gone on to that
building over the years.
• The City's Hall-oween event was a great success, with approximately 50 families
registering and bringing their preschool -age children to enjoy the decorations and
activities. Our staff and volunteers did an outstanding job transforming City Hall into a
fun and welcoming space for our youngest residents.
• Work continues on Phase 2 of the North Olmsted Community Park Project. Major
progress includes that preparations are underway for the installation of the new
pickleball and tennis courts. The foundational work is in progress for the new splash
pad. Completion of the new baseball field infield we're right there this week.
• With the construction of the new Senior Center parking lot that is almost complete, one
of the events that are typically held at the Senior Center was hosted today at Springvale.
I, along with about 100 other people, attended the annual international food cook -off.
It's a great tradition that we have with our Senior Center, and the winning cuisine was
the French dish of the stuffed chicken with champagne sauce on it, so that was quite the
culinary experience, and our Senior Center is expected to reopen Monday.
• And finally, the Citywide Leaf Collection began October 28th. This year it started on the
east side of the City. The crews will continue making passes across North Olmsted as
part of the annual fall cleanup program. You can direct your residents to the City
website and or social media. We try to update residents as to which streets had been
collected, so people living near that area would then know that the leaf collection
should be coming to them soon, and that, Mr. President, concludes my report.
Council President Brossard:
Thank you, Mayor. Law Director Gareau, do you have a report this evening?
Law
Law Director Gareau:
Just a few comments. Thank you, Mr. President.
1.1..05-25 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 2
