Police Chief Wagner:
So real quick, two rock stars here that we feel real confident in their abilities. Matthew
Holdridge has been with the Wadsworth Police Department before signing this way to us. So
far, he's out on his own and doing a great job. Hayden here is an officer of the military
currently and in the academy where he's leading his academy class and expected to continue
that route all the way through graduation in February. So we're happy to have him. Number 48,
49 for our police department. So where we've come, you know if we go back to where we were
15 years ago, we had 57 police officers and we're slowly trying to get back there and do good
work in the community. A couple things about these guys is that, you know, they come on at a
great time. We've probably added three quarters of our police department in the last five years,
and that is somewhat tiresome to hire them and get them trained and everything but without
the help of this Council, the Mayor, Safety Director, all the Directors here at the City, we
couldn't be more happy, congratulations!
If I could, I wanted to just take a couple minutes. You know, we do this bi-annually. So we do it
usually in June and then again in December to recognize the new employees that we've sworn
in as well as present a couple of awards. So if I could, Dispatcher Dana Borsz, if you're here,
come on up. Ricky Juergens and Deric Martin, please. I'm going to paraphrase, but these two
gentlemen and Dispatcher Borsz were on duty back in May 6th of this year where they got
dispatched to a call at the city park where a male was in cardiac arrest, and they responded,
pulled the male out of the car, performed CPR, it was in turn saved his life. So we have to thank
these two officers and accommodations to Dispatcher Borsz for their life-saving efforts back on
May 6th. So without them, who knows where that gentleman would be here today. So, great
job guys.
And then, Shane Wyatt, Billy Dwulat, and hold on, give me a minute, Jimmy Schill. So this is a
little bit more recent. If I was doing this biannually, we would have some time to recognize
these two as we can, but in a little bit similar but different situation, these guys were at Chuck
E. Cheese dealing with a male that was causing an issue there. He turned out to have a warrant
for his arrest. I think he was subsequently arrested. Did that happen? I'm not sure. So as they
were at Chuck E. Cheese dealing with an issue there, of all cases, an unwanted guest, there was
some commotion in the parking lot where they were trying to see when there was a male in
cardiac arrest that they pulled from the vehicle, and subsequently, I think Jimmy got the AED,
and these guys were doing chest compressions on the guy, that essentially saved his life. They
transported him to the hospital and revived the patient. So another great work by our men and
women here at the police department. I can't speak enough for how young our department is
currently and the great strides that we're making every day. I couldn't be happier. These guys
all deserve the round of applause. So anybody that's here, friends, family, that want to come
back to the police department for cake and refreshments, we're going to do that now. Again,
thank you for all of the Councilmembers and the Mayor and Directors for your continued
support. We couldn't do it without you, and thank you all very much.
3.2..02-25 COUncii Meeting Minutes - Page 2
