CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO.2025 - 92 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE 2017-32 AND CHAPTER 1119 <br />OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ENTITLED "BUILDING PERMITS AND CERTIFICATES OF <br />OCCUPANCY" AND ESTABLISHING A NEW CHAPTER 1119 OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />"BUILDING PERMITS AND CERTIFICATES OF OCCUPANCY". <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance 2017-32 passed on May 2, 2017 established Chapter 1119 of the <br />City of North Olmsted Codified Ordinances "Building Permits and Certificates of Occupancy", <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted engaged Poggenmeyer Design Group in 2022 to <br />conduct a strategic Economic Development Plan, and; <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 5 of the Economic Development Plan outlined organizational <br />improvement recommendations including monthly cross -functional team meetings to identify <br />process improvements, and; <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Directors of Economic and Community <br />Development and Public Safety, upon review meetings and identification of deficiencies in the <br />existing Chapter 1119 have drafted a new chapter 1119 to preserve the health safety and welfare <br />of the citizens of North Olmsted, Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to repeal and replace Chapter 1119 of the <br />Building Code. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: The existing Chapter 1119 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North <br />Olmsted, "Building Permits and Certificates of Occupancy," a copy of which attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit A, is hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 2: That there is hereby established a new Chapter 1119 of the Codified Ordinances <br />of the City of North Olmsted, "Building Permits and Certificates of Occupancy," which shall <br />read as follows: <br />1119.01 PURPOSE: To streamline process and protect the property and the general public and <br />preserve the health, safety, and welfare of the Citizens of North Olmsted. To establish <br />procedures for and licensure of physical occupancy of buildings or structures consistent with <br />both the Ohio Building Code (OBC) and also in accordance with all zoning, use and <br />development requirements in Part Eleven, Planning and Zoning Code. <br />
