Happy New Year.
• Last month, our community experienced a profound loss with the passing of Officer Tony
Smerk. Officer Smerk was more than a dedicated public servant. He was a valued colleague, a
trusted protector, and a member of our extended city family. His loss is deeply felt across our
police department, fire department, dispatch center, and throughout City Hall, and by our
residents who knew and respected him. We honor Officer Smerk's memory with gratitude for
his service and by standing in unwavering support of his family, friends, and co-workers during
01-06-26 Councii Meeting Minutes - Page 3
