CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.2026 - 23 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF RECREA TION AND <br />PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM THE OHIO <br />DEPARTMENT OFNATURAL RESOURCES (ODNR) IN THEAMOUNT OF <br />$157, 703.00 AS PART OF ODNR'S RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM <br />GRANT FOR NEW RECREATION TRAIL CONSTRUCTION AT NORTH <br />OLMSTED'S PARKS — BARTON BRADLEY, AND FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT AND EXECUTE <br />ALL GRANT DOCUMENTS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, ODNR provides assistance to local government through its Recreational <br />Trails Program to provide funding for the rehabilitation, development, maintenance, and <br />acquisition of recreational trails and related facilities with awards up to $150,000.00 subject to <br />matching funds of 20%; and <br />WHEREAS, the match amount is $31,541.00 and the grant amount is $126,162.00, with <br />funds available to pay the invoices for the project and then seek reimbursement from ODNR for <br />80% of eligible project costs; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Recreation and Public Engagement recommends and requests <br />that City Council authorize him to file an application with ODNR on behalf of the City of North <br />Olmsted to receive up to $150,000.00 in grant funding for the purpose of funding new recreation <br />trails at North Olmsted's parks, subject to 20% matching funds; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Recreation and <br />Public Engagement to apply for the Recreational Trails Program grant funding by ODNR and, if <br />awarded, to further authorize the Mayor to accept the award and execute agreements for same. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: The Director of Recreation and Public Engagement is hereby authorized to <br />make application to ODNR for a Recreational Trails Program grant in an amount up to <br />$150,000.00 for the purpose constructing new recreational trails at North Olmsted City Parks and, <br />if awarded, that the Mayor is further authorized to enter into agreements to accept an award on <br />behalf of the City of North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into Recreational Trails Grant <br />Program agreements which obligate the City of North Olmsted to commit matching funds required <br />by ODNR to satisfactorily complete the proposed park trails project and by commitment of <br />required matching funds to maintain eligibility for reimbursement in accordance with the terms of <br />the Recreational Trails Program by ODNR. <br />SECTION 3: The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to provide and supply a <br />certified true and accurate copy of this Resolution to and for the purpose of documenting the City <br />
