CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO.2026 - 38 <br />By: Mayor Jones <br />A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AN APPLICATION OF THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SERVICE FOR GRANT FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF OHIO <br />EPA RECYCLE OHIO / COMMUNITY AND LITTER GRANT PROGRAM, <br />AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT <br />FUNDING AND EXECUTE ALL GRANT DOCUMENTS, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Ohio EPA Recycle Ohio / Community Litter Grant Program <br />allows local governments, businesses, and nonprofit organizations throughout Ohio to receive <br />grants from Ohio EPA to, among other projects, implement recycling, litter prevention and market <br />development programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted made successful application to State of Ohio EPA <br />Recycle Ohio / Community Litter Grant Program for grant funds to secure a Towable Horizontal <br />Grinder for the Forestry Division; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant dollars awarded were $122,397.00, with a local match requirement <br />of $30,599.00, for a total project cost of $152,996.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to ratify the application as submitted and to <br />further authorize the Mayor to accept the award and execute agreements for same. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: The grant application of the Director of Public Service to the State of Ohio <br />EPA Recycle Ohio / Community Litter Grant Program for grant funds is hereby ratified and <br />approved retroactively to the date of application. The Mayor is further authorized to execute all <br />grant documents necessary to secure grant funding and to accept grant funds necessary to purchase <br />the towable horizontal grinder for use in the Division of Forestry. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary to meet grant deadlines, promptly secure the approved funding <br />and in order to expeditiously purchase the necessary equipment for use in the 2026 season; and <br />further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: _ <br />First Reading: �(o <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Reading • <br />Committee: �° jXt n,c U Aj% _� <br />
