CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO.2026 - 57 By: Mayor Jones A RESOL UTIONAUTHORING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THEAPPROVED STATE CAPITAL GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF S75,000.00 FOR THE OLD TOWN HALL REVITALIZATION PROJECT, PHASE II, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, this Council seeks to authorize the Mayor to accept the State Capital Grant in the amount of $75,000.00 for the Old Town Hall Revitalization Project (Phase II) as part of the State's Capital Budget for the reasons outlined below; and WHEREAS, Old Town Hall is a building recognized on the National Historic Registry, based on its age and having played a key role in the history of North Olmsted. The City of North Olmsted has planned for renovation work in order to continue to use the space for community gatherings and events for arts and culture; and WHEREAS, Phase II improvements to the interior of Old Town Hall include, but are not limited to, restorative work, new restroom and auditorium finishes, restoration of the floors and utility upgrades, among other improvements; and WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to accept funding from the State of Ohio in order to fund capital improvements at Old Town Hall, and accordingly directs this Resolution to our Representatives in the Statehouse. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Mayor to accept appropriations by the State of Ohio in order to provide funding in the State's Capital budget for necessary capital improvements for the Old Town Hall Revitalization Project (Phase II). SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to send a Certified copy of this Resolution to the appropriate administrative agencies and public officials, as may be directed by the Administration, as well as including elected representative in the House and Senate. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that immediate authorization will allow the City to promptly receive funds and to undertake improvements in an expeditious fashion; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
