CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 124 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF NEW PORTABLE <br />RADIOS AND ACCESSORIES FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT, AS PER SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE <br />OF THE FIRE CHIEF, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, SUBJECT TO <br />APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF CONTROL, IF NECESSARY, TO ENTER <br />INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council, by adoption of Resolution No. 2004 -149 on November 3, <br />2004, authorized the City to apply for and accept a FEMA Communications Grant; and <br />WHEREAS, consistent with the terms and conditions of said grant, it is the desire of the <br />Fire Department to purchase certain portable radios and accessories with grant funds; and <br />WHEREAS, bids and specifications for said equipment have been prepared by the <br />Director of Public Service, and are on file in the office of the Fire Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor, upon approval of the <br />Board of Control, if necessary, to enter into a contract for the purchase of said equipment for use <br />by the North Olmsted Fire Department with the lowest and best bidder; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Safety be and he is hereby authorized to <br />advertise for bids for the purchase of portable radios and accessories for the Fire Department, <br />according to plans and specifications now on file in the office of the Fire Chief, and further that, <br />upon approval by the Board of Control, if necessary, the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into <br />a contract and execute same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted with the lowest and best <br />bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the <br />purchases may be effected within the Grant's time deadlines, and further provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two- thirds of all members of Council, it. shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
