k :. . ? .?,. . . ?? .? <br />.\ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 1 <br />BY: Councilman Orlowski <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE <br />OHIO HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR AN OHIO HISTORICAL <br />MARKERS PROGRAM GRANT, AND FOR THE MAYOR TO <br />A CCEPT THE GRANT IF A WARDED AND TO A CCEPT ANY <br />OTHER DONATIONS MADE FROM ANY OTHER PERSONS <br />AND/OR ORGANIZATIONS, ALL FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />PLACING A HISTORICAL MARKER AT SPRINGVALE GOLF <br />CO URSE, COMMEMORA TING THE AIR FLIGHTS AND CRASH <br />OF JAMES H. "JIMMIE" DOOLITTLE OVER SPRINGVALE IN <br />1929 AND 1932. <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Landmarks Commission has requested that the <br />City Administration takes steps, including making an application to the Ohio Historical <br />Society for an Ohio Historical Markers Program grant, and the soliciting and acceptance <br />of donations from other persons and organizations, all for the purpose of placing a <br />historical marker at Springvale commemorating the air flights over and crash near <br />Springvale Golf Course by James H. "Jimmie" Doolittle in 1929 and 1932; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, acting upon the recommendation of the <br />Landmarks Commission, to authorize the said application and acceptance of any grant <br />awarded, the soliciting and acceptance of donations from any other persons and/or <br />organizations, and the placement of a historical marker at Springvale commemorating the <br />events relating to famed early 20`" century aviator James H. "Jimmie" Doolittle as stated <br />above; <br />NO W THEREFORE, BE I T RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Community Life Services be and he hereby is <br />atiithorized to make application to the Ohio Historical Society for an Ohio Historica] <br />Markers Program grant, and the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to accept any such <br />grant received by the City from the Ohio Historical Society as well as any donations <br />received from any persons or organizations, all for the purpose of placing a historical <br />marker at Springvale Golf Course commemorating the air flights over and crash near <br />Springvale by James H. "Jimmie" Doolittle in 1929 and 1932. <br />
