CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 43 BY: Mayor O'Grady A RESOL UTION APPRO VING OF AND A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS WITH THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE/OHIO LABOR COUNCIL FOR THE CITY'S POLICE OFFICERS AND CORRECTIONS OFFICERS, FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2008 AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. WHEREAS, Ohio law provides for the recognition of public sector labor unions and for municipal corporations to negotiate collective bargaining agreements with such unions that have been recognized as the bargaining agents for their public employees; and WHEREAS, the Fraternal Order of Police/Ohio Labor Council (hereinafter, the "FOP") has been recognized as the exclusive bargaining agent for the City's police officers and corrections officers; and WHEREAS, the Administration conducted negotiations with the FOP representing the interests of the members of said bargaining units in 2007 and 2008; and WHEREAS, the Administration successfully negotiated agreements on all of the issues that were presented during the collective bargaining negotiations between the Administration and FOP, and the agreements that were negotiated are satisfactory to both the Administration and the bargaining unit members; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to enter into two collective bargaining agreements with the FOP on behalf of, respectively, the City's police officers and conections officers, for the period January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2008; NO W, THEREFORE, BE I T RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreements negotiated by and between the Administration and the Fraternal Order of Police/Ohio Labor Council (hereinafter, the "FOP"), copies of which are labeled as Exhibits A and B and are on file in the office of the Clerk of Council and are available upon request, are hereby approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute the said two agreements.
