CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 59 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE <br />TO PURCHASE VARIOUS VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE <br />SERVICE DEPARTMENT THROUGH THE STATE PURCHASE <br />PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL <br />DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE SUCH PURCHASE; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service has previously recommended to this Council <br />that the City purchase certain vehicles and equipment to meet current Service Department needs, <br />and further recommends that such needs would be met by purchasing, through the State Purchase <br />Program, one new 2.5 ton Truck with S/S dump body and snowplows and computer salt controls, <br />and one 1-ton 4x4 Pickup Truck with V-plow and lift gate; and <br />WHEREAS, the funds necessary for the purchase of such vehicles and equipment have <br />already been appropriated by this Council and are available for this purpose; and <br />WHEREAS, the purchase of said vehicles and equipment, although in excess of Twenty- <br />Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000) is not legally required by the City Charter to be competitively <br />bid locally, because said items are being purchased through the State Purchase Program, which is <br />deemed under the City Charter to meet the Charter requirements for competitive bidding; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />purchase said vehicles and equipment for the Service Department, all through the State Purci.ase <br />Program, and to further authorize the Mayor, following approval of the Board of Control, if <br />necessary, to execute all documents necessary to effectuate said purchases; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized to <br />purchase through the State Purchasing Program, which was e,stablished by O.R.C. Section 125.04 <br />and which the City is authorized to participate in pursuant to Ordinance No. 87-6, one new 2.5 <br />ton Truck with S/S dump body and snowplows and computer salt controls, and one 1-ton 4x4 <br />Pickup Truck with V-plow and lift gate; and further, that as necessary to effectuate such <br />purchases through the State Purchasing Program, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any <br />contract and/or other appropriate documents required by the authorized vendor(s) or the State of <br />Ohio. Any such contract(s) executed by the Mayor shall be in a form and substance consistent <br />with the provisions of this Resolution and approved by the Director of Law.
