CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003-160 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CIT'Y COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />BRIAN MARKS <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY SCOUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize that those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, a.re an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that a11 citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an extent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN began his Scouting career by becoming a member of Cub Scout Pack 204; he earned the <br />Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest award in Cub Scouting, and the religious emblem God and Country; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN has been an active participant of Boy Scout Troop 421 and has attended monthly campouts <br />and summer camp at Beaumont and Falling Rock for seven consecutive years; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN has served his fellow Scouts in the leadership positions of Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, <br />Patrol Leader, Quartermaster and Den Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award, BRIAN earned the required number of Merit Badges plus <br />seventeen additional Merit Badges; and <br />WHEREAS, BRIAN'S Eagle Scout Project consisted of organizing and overseeing the collection of personal care <br />items for the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertaking all these Scouting projects, BRIAN, a senior at North Olmsted High School, has <br />participated in the Computer Club, has received awards for the Honor and Merit Rolls and perfect attendance, and he is <br />attending Polaris Career Center studying Automotive Service Technology; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by BRIAN MARKS is a noteworthy accomplishment <br />deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />BRIAN MARKS on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />BRIAN MARKS. <br />< <br />Passed: <br />t , <br />tt st: -? ? <br />? <br />Barbara L.
