City of North Olmsted <br />Resolution No. 2003-149 <br />BY: MAYOR MUSIAL and ALL MEMBERS OF COLTNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION DECLARING NOVEMBER 11, 2003 "VETERANS <br />DAY" IN NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO AND TO SALUTE, HONOR, AND <br />REMEMBER OUR VETERANS AT A VETERANS DAY CEREMONY ON <br />NOVEMBER 11, 2003 AT OLD TOWN HALL. <br />WHEREAS, on the first anniversary of the truce of World War I, President <br />Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation in 1919 eulogizing fallen allied soldiers and <br />referred to November 11'?' as Armistice Day. This day became a day of remembrance in <br />the United States, France, Crreat Britain, and Canada; and <br />WHEREAS, Veterans Day acquired it present identification and broadened <br />significance in the United States in 1954; and <br />WHEREAS, Veterans Day is a day of remembrance observed annually in the <br />United States in honor of those living and dead, who served with the United States armed <br />forces in wartime; and <br />WHEREAS, there are many veterans we must remember going all the way back <br />to the earliest days of the United States of America; and <br />WHEREAS, our veterans will be saluted, honored, and remembered at a Veterans <br />Day Ceremony on November 11, 2003 at Old Town Ha11. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1. That this Mayor and City Council recognize the saprifices that <br />veterans have made to the United States of America, ensuring freedom for all Americans <br />and therefore, does adopt and declare November 11, 2003, as "Veterans Day" in North <br />Olmsted, Ohio: To salute, honor, and remember our veterans at a Veterans Day <br />Ceremony on November 11, 2003 at Old Town Ha11.
