<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -142 <br />BY: Mayor Musial and Council Member Gareau <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF LAW TO <br />APPLY TO CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY FOR A FEDERAL <br />WORK-S TUD Y A WARD FOR PAYMENT OFA PORTION OF THE <br />COMPENSATION OF THE CITY'S LAW CLERK FOR THE PERIOD <br />2003-2004, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A <br />CONTRACT WITH CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY <br />REGARDING THE SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Law has requested authorization to apply to <br />Cleveland State University to participate in a federal work-study program that would pay <br />up to $7,500.00 of the compensation of the City's law clerk during the period 2003-2004; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to so authorize the Director of Law, <br />and to further authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with Cleveland State <br />University providing for the terms and conditions of participation in said program; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Law be and he hereby is authorized to apply to <br />Cleveland State University to participate in a federal work-study program that would <br />provide an award for payment of the City's law clerk during the period 2003-2004, and <br />further that the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to execute a contract with <br />Cleveland State University providing for the terms and conditions of the City's <br />participation in said program. The contract shall be substantially in the form of the <br />"Federal Work-Study, Off-Campus Contract" attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />for the further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately <br />because of the City's difficult economic circumstances and the filing deadline for the <br />application, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all <br />members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />
