CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -142 BY: Mayor Musial and Council Member Gareau A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF LAW TO APPLY TO CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY FOR A FEDERAL WORK-S TUD Y A WARD FOR PAYMENT OFA PORTION OF THE COMPENSATION OF THE CITY'S LAW CLERK FOR THE PERIOD 2003-2004, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY REGARDING THE SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Director of Law has requested authorization to apply to Cleveland State University to participate in a federal work-study program that would pay up to $7,500.00 of the compensation of the City's law clerk during the period 2003-2004; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to so authorize the Director of Law, and to further authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with Cleveland State University providing for the terms and conditions of participation in said program; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Director of Law be and he hereby is authorized to apply to Cleveland State University to participate in a federal work-study program that would provide an award for payment of the City's law clerk during the period 2003-2004, and further that the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to execute a contract with Cleveland State University providing for the terms and conditions of the City's participation in said program. The contract shall be substantially in the form of the "Federal Work-Study, Off-Campus Contract" attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately because of the City's difficult economic circumstances and the filing deadline for the application, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
