??. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2003 - 85 <br />BY: Council Member Paul Miller <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE OHIO GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO ADOPT <br />SENATE BILL 28 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO <br />PROVIDE FOR A DO-NOT-CALL REGISTRY FOR RESIDENTIAL <br />TELEPHONE SUBSCRIBERS, EITHER BYDIRECTLYDEVELOPING AND <br />MAINTAINING THE REGISTRY OR BYACCEPTING A NATIONAL DQNOT- <br />CALL REGISTRY MAINTAINED BY A FEDERAL AGENCY, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Senate Bill 28, which would require the Attorney General to provide for a do- <br />not-call registry for residential telephone subscribers, either by directly developing and maintaining <br />the registry or by accepting a national do-not-call registry maintained by a federal agency, is presently <br />pending before the Ohio General Assembly; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to urge the General Assembly to follow the developing <br />national trend and adopt Ohio Senate Bi1128 in order to promote a do-not-call registry for residential <br />telephone subscribers and requiring telephone solicitors to pay a fee to obtain a copy of or access to <br />it, and that said fees must be used to pay costs of registry development, operation, and maintenance. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council hereby recommends, supports and encourages the Ohio <br />General Assembly to adopt Senate Bill 28, requiring the Attorney General to provide for a do-not-call <br />registry for residential telephone subscribers, either by directly developing and maintaining the registry <br />or by accepting a national do-not-call registry maintained by a federal agency, and to forward such <br />legislation to Governor Taft for signature into law. <br />SECTION 2: That fully attested copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the following <br />State officials: Governor Robert Taft, State Senator Robert Spada, and State Representative Sally <br />Conway Kilbane with the specific request to State Senator Spada tha.t he present this Resolution on <br />behalf of the City of North Olmsted to any and all appropriate Committees which have addressed or <br />will address Senate Bi1128.
