CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003-73 <br />BY: THE MAYOR AND THE ENTIRE CIT'Y COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ACHIEVEMENT BY <br />5TEVEN D. MYERS <br />OF THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN BOY 5COUTING <br />WHEREAS, this Council and Administration recognize and reaffirm their dedication to organized Scouting; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council and the Administration further recognize tha.t those participating in Scouting, both the <br />youth and their leaders, are an invaluable asset to the community and the Nation, and that the ideals of Scouting, the Scout <br />Oath and the Scout Law are commitments that all citizens should strive for; and <br />WHEREAS, when one of our young citizens has been committed to Scouting to such an erctent that he earns the <br />rank of Eagle Scout, it is truly a noteworthy accomplishment; and <br />WHEREAS, STEVEN became a member of Boy Scout Troop 630 at St. Brendan's Church and has served his <br />fellow Scouts as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol <br />Leader, and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster; and <br />WHEREAS, STEVEN has earned numerous religious and special awards including Ad Altare Dei Emblem, Pope <br />Pius XII Emblem, International Awareness Award, World Conservation Award, Honorary Official All Scouts Day 2002 <br />and 2003, Frontiersman Award, NRA Marksman, NRA First Class Marksman, and NRA Pro-marksman; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout his Scouting career, STEVEN attended a wide variety of outings including numerous <br />weekends and six Summer Camps as well as the 2001 National Jamboree; and <br />WHEREAS, STEVEN'S other Scout activities included volunteering at the Saint Ignatius Hunger Center, <br />participating in the Veteran's Day ceremony at City Hall and participating as a member of the National Eagle Scout <br />Association; and <br />WHEREAS, STEVEN, in achieving his Eagle Scout Award earned thirty-two Merit Badges; and <br />WIMREAS, for his Eagle Scout Project, STEVEN collected over 2,000 pairs of used eye glasses, fia.mes and <br />lenses which were donated to the Cleveland Sight Center; and <br />WHEREAS, while undertaking all these Scouting projects, STEVEN, a student at North Olmsted High School, <br />was a member of the North Olmsted Marching Band and the Ski Club; and <br />WHEREAS, the reception of the Eagle Scout Award by STEVEN D. MYERS is a noteworthy accomplishment <br />deserving of the congratulations of the entire community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council and City Administration extend best wishes and heartiest congratulations to <br />STEVEN D. MYERS on his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and she is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to <br />STEVEN D.
