<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 - 61 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOL UTIONAUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS <br />FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF SOUTH CANTERBURY ROAD FROM THE <br />INTERSECTION OF BUTTERNUT RIDGE RDAD TO A POINT SOUTH OF <br />SPRINGVALE BALLR04M AS DETAILED IN THE PLANS AND <br />SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY ENGINEER, <br />AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYCIA FOLLOR'ING APPROVAL OF THE <br />BOARD OF CONTROL, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT N'ITH THE <br />LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the necessary plans and specifications for the improvement of South <br />Canterbury Road from the intersection of Butternut Ridge Road to a point South of Springvale <br />Ballroom, as prepazed under the direction of the Engineering Department of the City of North <br />Olmsted, are on file in the office of the City Engineer, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Service Department has deternuned that South Canterbury Road ha.s <br />seriously deteriorated over the course of the winter months and immediate repairs are necessary <br />to keep the road open, maintain two-way tra.ffic, and to accommodate the traffic on said road; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, given the urgency af the necessary repairs, to <br />authorize the Mayor to immediately advertise for competitive bidding in accordance with said <br />plans and specifications on file and to authorize the Mayor to, upon approval of the Board of <br />Control, enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND 5TATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to immediately advertise for <br />and commence competitive bidding for the construction of roadway improvements to South <br />Canterbury Road from the intersection of Butternut Ridge Road to a point south of Springvale <br />Ballroom, in accordance with the plans and specifications on file in the office of the City Engineer, <br />and further that, upon approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor is further authorized and <br />directed to enter into a contract with and execute the same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted <br />with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and, for the <br />additional reason, that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately so as to <br />immediately address the serious deterioration of this street, and further provided that it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />,.... . .... ._.???
