CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -39 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOLUTIONAUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS <br />FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF LORAIIV ROAD FROM THE LORAIN <br />COUNTY LINE TO NORTH CANTERBURY ROAD AS DETAILED IN THE <br />PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY <br />ENGINEER, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF <br />THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE <br />LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the necessary plans and specifications for the improvement of Lorain Road <br />from the Lorain County Line to North Canterbury Road, as prepared under the direction of the <br />Engineering Department of the City of North Olmsted, are on file in the office of the City <br />Engineer, and <br />WHEREAS, the City has received grants for this project from the Ohio Public Works <br />Commission in the amount of $1,542,384.00, and from the Ohio Department of Transportation in <br />the amount of $1,024,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor advertise for bids to <br />construct said improvement in accordance with said plans and specifica.tions on file, and upon <br />approval of the Board of Control, enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the <br />construction of improvements to Lorain Road from the Lorain County Line to North Canterbury <br />Road, in accordance with the plans and specifications now on file in the office of the City <br />Engineer, and further that, upon approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor is further <br />authorized and directed to enter into a contract with and execute the same on behalf of the City of <br />North Olmsted with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and, for the <br />additional reason, that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately so as to not <br />jeopardize State funding for the project, and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote <br />of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor.
