<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 71,;- <br />BY: w " <br />AN ORDINANCE FIX~tTG THE COMPENSATION OF <br />THE MAYOR OF THE CITY TO ~E .ELECTED, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that the amount of time necessary to <br />effectively carry out the duties of the Mayor of the City of North Olmsted is in- <br />creasing steadily as the population of the City iras augmented by new citizens moving <br />into the City ;and <br />WHEREAS, the Finance Committee of Council has determined that the <br />compensation of the Mayor fn the City of North Olmsted should be increased com- <br />mensurate with the compensation paid to elected Mayors in other adjoining com- <br />munities ;and <br />WHEREAS, Council has accepted the recommendations of the Fisarsee <br />Committee and hereby wishes to increase the compensation of the Mayor elected <br />fn the municipal election to be he&1 in 1971, all in accorance with Article IV, <br />Section 6 of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Cfty of <br />North Olmsted, State of Ohio <br />Section 1. Council does hereby establish, for the purpose of nominating <br />and electing the Mayor of the City and fixing the compensation of the Mayor to be <br />elected in the municipal election in 1971, that the salary of the Mayor to be filled <br />in the election iri 19 71 shall be $19 , 000.00 . <br />Section 2. That Ordinance No. 69-12, enacted January 12, 1969, and <br />any other ordinance or parts of ordinance in conflict with this ordinance is hereby <br />repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance. <br />Section 3. That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward to <br />the Board of Elections a certified and conformed copy of this Ordinance. <br />Section 4. That this Ordinance i s hereby debfared to be an emergency <br />measure and such emergency exists by virtue of establishing the salary 30 days <br />in advance of March 5 , 19 71 and the necessity of notifying the Board of Election s <br />of Cuyahoga County of the salary of the Mayor to be filled under the provisions of <br />this Charter in the November election of 1971, in order for said Board of Elections <br />to establish~te filing Bees for the office of the Mayor, which filing date expires <br />March 5 , 19 71. WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage, otherwise, at the earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST: <br />Nora T.
