CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 81 - 146 <br />APPROVED: Id Sel <br />BY: MRS. SARINGER <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ANY FURTHER CUTS IN THE FEDERAL <br />BUDGET THAT AFFECT THE NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND Sn.4CE <br />ADPIINISTRATION AND IN PARTICULAR THE LEWIS RESEARCH <br />CENTER, AND DECL.ARING AN EMERqENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the National Aeronautics and Snace Administration, <br />Lewis Research Center has been one of the main agencies responsible <br />for this nation's superiority in space; and <br />WHERF.AS, during the past several years, there have been cuts <br />in the federal budget which have greatly reduced the manpower and <br />productivity of NASA, Lewis Research Center; and <br />WHEREAS, the nroposed federal budget once again is removing <br />much needed funds from NASA, Lewis Research Center, further eroding <br />the agency's productivity and research; and <br />INHERF.AS, the cut in funds not only severly hamners our <br />national security, but affects the jobs of dedicated NASA, Lewis <br />Research Center employees, many of whom are residents of the City <br />of North Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council and the Administration go on <br />record as opposing any further reduction of funds that affect the <br />National Aeronautics and Snace Administration and in particular, <br />the Lewis Research Center located in this area. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorize and ciirected to forward a copy of this Resolution to <br />Senator Howard Metzenbaum; Senator ,John Glenn; Congresswoman Mary <br />Rose Oakar; Conaressman Louis Stokes; Congressman Ronald Mottl; <br />and Congressman Dennis Eckart; Dave Stockman, Office of Management <br />and Budget; Mr. James Beg;s, Administrator of NASA. <br />SECTION 3: It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption <br />of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council <br />and that all deliverations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such f_ormal action were in meetings <br />open to the -oublic in comnliance with all legal requirements of <br />Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 4: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure necessary for the immediate Dreservation of the public <br />health, saf_ety and welfare of the City of North Olmsted, and for the <br />further reason that it is presently under consideration before the United <br />States Congress. <br />PA S S E D: <br />ATTEST: <br />b• <br />FL NCE E.
