. J <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 88- 31 <br />BY: MAYOR M. YVONNE PETRIGAC <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT <br />WITH THE WESTSHORE COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS TO PROVIDE FOR A <br />HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSE TEAM, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, in an emergencg, the City wishes to provide for an <br />organizational structure and the resources necessary to protect the lives <br />and property of citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, the Westshore Council of Governments has met to discuss the <br />implementation of a Hazardous Materials Response Team as a regional <br />response unit for the six Westshore communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Hazardous Nlaterials Response Team would bridge <br />the gap between the extremely limited capabilities of individual local <br />safety forces and the support assistance provided by State and County <br />agencies; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: T1 <br />into an agreement <br />Governments for the <br />protect lives and <br />incidents through <br />communities. <br />Zat the Mayor be and she is hereby authorized to enter <br />with the six cities of the Westshore Council of <br />establishment of a Hazardous Materials Response Team to <br />save property in the event of hazardous materials <br />specialized training and equipment for the Westshore <br />SECTION 2: That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and <br />directed to pay the sum of $17,500.76 from the Fire Hazard Account, <br />representing the City of North Olmsted's share of the cost of said Team for <br />the first year of operation. <br />SECTION 3: That this Council finds and determines that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />Ordinance were taken in an open rneeting of this Council; and that all <br />deliberations of this Council, and of any committees, that resulted in <br />those formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with <br />law.
