.bw <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2013 - 14 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL <br />EMPLOYEES ("AFSCME'), OHIO COUNCIL 8, LOCAL 2681 FOR THE <br />CITY'S SERVICE UNIT EMPLOYEES, FOR THE PERIOD JULY I, 2012 <br />THROUGH JUNE 30, 201 S AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Ohio has heretofore adopted legislation calling <br />for collective bargaining agreements with public employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees <br />("AFSCME"), Ohio Council 8, Local 2681, has been recognized as the exclusive bargaining <br />agent for the City's Service Unit employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted bargaining this year with the members of <br />said bargaining unit and has concluded the process with an agreement that is satisfactory to the <br />Administration and the bargaining unit; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to <br />enter into a collective bargaining agreement with AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 2681 on <br />behalf of the said Service Unit employees for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between the <br />Administration and AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Local 2681, on behalf of the City's Service Unit <br />employees, a copy of which is attached to this legislation as "Exhibit A," is approved and the <br />Mayor is authorized to execute the said Agreement. <br />SECTION 2: That the effective date of any and all wage and other economic benefits <br />provided for in said Agreement, unless otherwise expressly specified therein, shall be July 1, <br />2012. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to <br />the fact that the prior labor contract expired on June 30, 2012; and further provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />`1*,..-
