CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2010 - 44 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE <br />COMPUTER SERVERS, SUPPORT HARDWARE, SOFTWARE AND A <br />SHARED STORAGE DEVICE THROUGH THE STATE PURCHASE <br />PROGRAM; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE <br />ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE SUCH PURCHASE, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Information and Technology Department has recommended a course of <br />action to acquire and install computer hardware and software for the purposes of, among other <br />things, creating a more secure network, updating obsolete processes and hardware, reducing the <br />receipt of mass produced computer electronic mail, and retaining, storing, and indexing <br />electronic mail ("e-mail") public records; and <br />WHEREAS, specifications for the hardware and software needed to implement the <br />course of action recommended by the Information Technology Department are attached hereto as <br />Exhibit 1; and <br />WHEREAS, the funds necessary for the purchase of such computer servers, hardware and <br />software have already been appropriated by this Council and are available for this purpose; and <br />WHEREAS, the purchase of said computer hardware and software, although in excess of <br />Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000), is not legally required by the City Charter to be <br />competitively bid locally, because said item is being purchased through the State Purchase <br />Program, which is deemed under the City Charter to meet the Charter requirements for <br />competitive bidding; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to proceed with the <br />purchase of the hardware and software identified on Exhibit 1, through the State Purchase <br />Program, and further to authorize the Mayor to execute all documents necessary to effectuate said <br />purchase. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to purchase, through the <br />State Purchasing Program, which was established by O.R.C. Section 125.04 and which the City <br />is authorized to participate in pursuant to Ordinance No. 87-6, the hardware, equipment and <br />software identified on Exhibit 1, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as if fully <br />rewritten; the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any contract and/or other appropriate <br />documents required by the authorized vendor(s) or the State of Ohio.
