CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - 141 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR PAR TICIPA TION IN, AND GRANT FUNDING <br />FOR, THE 2011 "CLICK IT OR TICKET OVERTIME GRANT"; AND <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT IF <br />AWARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE SAME, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Division of Police would like to participate in <br />the 2011 "Click it or Ticket Overtime Grant" program sponsored by the State of Ohio, <br />Department of Public Safety and University Hospitals of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the program provides funding for targeted safety belt enforcement and <br />awareness education to be conducted by the Division of Police in May and June of 2011; and <br />WHEREAS, the program's goal is to increase safety belt usage in the City of North <br />Olmsted and Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant reimbursement rate will not to exceed $1,869.74; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for participation and funding, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the 2011 "Click It or Ticket Overtime Grant"; and <br />does further authorize the Mayor to accept the award and execute a contract and any and all other <br />necessary papers, if successful in the grant application. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for participation; and further, provided it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in farce immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />, <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST.- <br />First Reading: 1 j( jtl; )ylp <br />Second Reading: ' <br />Third Reading? <br />.., <br />Committee: ii?,1? ? r
