<br />~. ~„ , . <br /> 1 <br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2006-5 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady and City Council <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR, ON BEHALF OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, TO NEGOTIATE AND ACCEPT AN <br />EASEMENT FROM THE CLEVELAND METROPARKS BOARD OF <br />PARK COMMISSIONERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A <br />JOINT ACCESS DRIVE ON METROPARKS REAL PROPERTY THAT <br />WILL PROVIDE ACCESS TO FIRE STATION NO. 2 AND TO THE <br />METROPARKS PROPERTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City purchased a parcel of real property at 29590 Lorain Road to <br />serve as the site for new Fire Station No. 2; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cleveland Metroparks owns a vacant parcel of real property <br />immediate to the west of the real property owned by the City at 29590 Lorain Road; and <br />WHEREAS, while the real property purchased by the City can accommodate a fire <br />station structure, parking, access drives, and other necessary site elements, any resulting <br />development plan would not allow for the preservation of much green space on the property <br />and would necessarily push the fire station structure closer to residents living on Elm Road; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Planning that the City <br />negotiate and accept an easement from the Cleveland Metroparks for the purpose of <br />constructing a joint access drive upon the Metroparks' property immediately to the west of the <br />City's property, thereby alleviating the green space and fire station structure location concerns; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council, acting upon the <br />recommendation of the Director of Planning, to authorize the Mayor to negotiate and accept <br />an easement from the Cleveland Metroparks Board of Park Commissioners on the said <br />Cleveland Metroparks' property for said joint access purpose; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to negotiate and accept, <br />on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, an easement from the Cleveland Metroparks Board of <br />Park Commissioners upon the real property owned by the Cleveland Metroparks and abutting <br />the western property line of the City's real property located at 29590 Lorain Road, for the <br />purposes of constructing thereon a joint access drive that would provide access to both the <br />new Fire Station No. 2 and the said Metroparks' real property; and further authorizing the <br />Mayor to execute such other documents as are reasonably necessary to effectuate the purpose <br />of this legislation. <br />
