~w~- <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76 - <br />BY: <br />A RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO WATER RATES <br />BEING CHARGED SUBURBS BY THE CLEVELAND <br />WATER DEPARTMENT, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, a disparity exists between water rates being <br />charged. Cleveland users and suburban customers; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Cleveland. City users pay One Dollar <br />and. Eighty-Three Cents ($1.83) for the first thousand cubic feet <br />water consumed or the fraction thereof. The suburban rates <br />are as follows: First High is Three Dollars and Forty-Eight cents <br />($3.48) for the first thousand cubic feet water consumed or the <br />fraction thereof; Second High is Four Dollars and Fourteen Cents <br />($4.14) for the first thousand cubic feet water consumed or the <br />fraction thereof; Third High is Five Dollars and Thirteen Cents <br />($5.13) for the first thousand cubic feet water consumed. or the <br />fraction thereof. The rates beyond the first thousand cubic feet <br />of water consumed, are in accordance with a schedule of rates as <br />published by the Cleveland Water Department. <br />SECTION 2: That this Council, Administration and Mayor <br />hereby object to this rate disparity and. recommend that for <br />rate uniformity a Regional Water Authority be created. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this <br />resolution to the Cleveland City Council, all suburban Councils, <br />and the Regional Sewer Authority. <br />SECTION 4: That this resolution is hereby declared to be <br />an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of <br />the public health, safety and welfare, and for the further reason <br />that a disparity exists in water rates, thus creating a prejudicial <br />hardship for suburban residents, and further provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, <br />it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED : ~~, ~~7fe~ <br />ATTEST: <br />~~~ <br />NORA T.
