CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 74 - 157 <br />By; Mrs . Sharpe <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE <br />OF THE STATE OF OHIO TO BASE THE ISSUANCE <br />OF LIQUOR PERMITS ON A POPULATION RATIO <br />OF ONE PERMIT PER ONE THOUSAND POPULATION, <br />AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control pursuant to O.R.C. <br />4301.03(G), which section allows the Liquor Control Commission to <br />regulate the number of permits of any class within the State or <br />within any political subdivision thereof, adopted a regulation on <br />April 28, 1974, whereby the issuing of liquor permits in a munici- <br />pality was to be on the basis of one permit per 500 population. <br />Said regulation repealed the previous ratio of one permit per 1,000 <br />population, and; <br />WHEREAS, the new regulation adopted by the Liquor Control <br />Commission now establishes a total number of liquor permits for the <br />City of North Olmsted at 76 of which 66 are presently open, and <br />said new quota system is in no way based on any increase in popula- <br />tion but rather derived by the aforesaid change in ratio even though <br />there has been no circumstantial increase in population; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Council requests the Legislature of the <br />State of Ohio to adopt legislation whereby liquor permits would <br />be issued on the basis of one permit per one thousand population. <br />SECTION 2: That the Council requests the Legislature of the <br />State of Ohio to adopt legislation whereby municipalities would, <br />in the future, have an option of approving or disapproving any <br />changes in the ratio of the issuance of liquor permits within said <br />municipality. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward two copies of this resolution to the Legislature <br />of the State of Ohio as well as the Liquor Control Commission. <br />v. >,, . ~ ~ ..,~:,.~ ..~,,~~~ ~.,...,,.. . <br />
